Aziz Diagne

Aziz Diagne is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist originally from Thiès, Senegal, now based in Los Angeles. His extensive practice spans watercolor, oil painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, murals, tapestry, set-building, and his signature medium, reverse painting on glass—a centuries-old Senegalese technique known as Theissoise. Known for his luminous, layered compositions and intricate detail, Aziz has developed a distinctive visual language that blends cultural heritage with contemporary sensibilities. His creative journey has been profoundly shaped by years of travel across the United States and around the world, where he has immersed himself in diverse artistic traditions and cultural narratives. These experiences have enriched his work, infusing it with a dynamic fusion of colors, textures, and storytelling elements that transcend borders. Each piece he creates—whether on glass, canvas, or clay—reflects his deep appreciation for craftsmanship, spirituality, and human connection. Through his art, Aziz celebrates both the vibrancy of life and the enduring influence of ancestral techniques, positioning his work as a bridge between tradition and modern expression.
